More About Diss Debar
As stated in the previous article, the father of Clara Levassor had a dislike or distrust for Diss Debar. So strong was his feelings , that prior to the apparently unstoppable marriage with his daughter, Diss Debar had to "voluntarily" sign a pre-nuptial agreement that her father had drawn up. In essence, Diss Debar gave up any dower rights that he might have, and during the marriage all of Clara's personal assets were being held in trust by her brother. Of course, the document also made provisions in the event of the death of either Clara, Debar, or Clara's brother. The lengthy document can be found in the Wood County Courthouse, Deed Book #14, Page 480.
The record books did not indicate that J.H. Diss Debar ever owned property in Wood County.
