On a determined conviction that the collective historical values of our American culture, so firmly engrained into our Society through the courage and sacrifice of preceding generations, can continue to mature and serve this nation only through the historical preservation of them, this society of history and preservation has been established.
In pursuit of the ideals set forth in the Preamble, the objectives of this society shall be the following:
- The acquisition of historical knowledge through the discovery, collection, preservation and dissemination of historical facts through research into the antiqities, art and literature of the County of Wood , the cities and towns therein and the State of West Virginia.
- The preservation and restoration of old buildings and landmarks.
- The promotion of genealogical research.
4. To provide a local setting for all persons who have a driving interest in local history, preservation and genealogy and wish to become involved with others of a similar nature in furthering the cause of history and preservation in their city, county and state.
